Careers

We do not keep a bench.

Every Vardline engagement is led and signed by a partner, and delivered by a team assembled for that scope from marine specialists, engineers and surveyors we have worked with directly. We do not keep people on the payroll between projects just so they are available, and we do not put a name on a proposal that will not be on the job. That is why this page is an invitation rather than a vacancy list.

Who we work with

Master Mariners and DP specialists

Command or senior bridge experience on offshore vessels, shuttle tankers, drilling or floating production units. DP practitioners who have written an FMEA or run trials, not only attended them.

Marine and offshore engineers

Mooring, station-keeping and installation analysis, naval architecture, and the calculation work that sits behind a marine decision.

Site, commissioning and production systems engineers

People who have spent a build in a yard or a start-up on a unit, and know the difference between mechanical completion and a system that works.

Surveyors and inspectors

Marine warranty surveyors, accredited vessel inspectors and condition surveyors who can write a report a client will act on.

What we ask

That you have done the work rather than reviewed it. Accreditation where the scope requires one, and the records to support it. No shareholding in, or employment with, a yard, contractor or vessel owner that would compromise an independent position on the job we would send you to.

And a willingness to be named. We tell the client who is coming before mobilisation, and the person who attends is accountable for what the report says.

How it works

Write to us with what you have actually done — the units, the campaigns, the systems — rather than a general CV. A partner reads it. If there is a fit we will talk, whether or not there is a scope on the table at the time.

When a scope matches, you are proposed to the client by name and work under a partner’s direction. The work is project-based and irregular by its nature, and we would rather say so here than discover we disagree about it later.

We do not advertise vacancies. When something opens it is normally filled from people we already know, which is the reason to be in touch before there is one.
