Offshore wind: marine warranty, walk-to-work and floating units

A floating wind unit is towed out, moored and connected like any other floating asset. We bring the same assurance to offshore wind that we bring to floating production, alongside the vessel work the sector runs on. Kjetil Walland was site manager on Hywind Scotland, the world’s first floating wind farm.

What we deliver

Marine warranty surveying

Loadout, seafastening, heavy lift, cable and bundle operations and rock dumping campaigns, surveyed against the approved procedure and the weather criteria.

Floating wind tow and hook-up

Tow, mooring hook-up and connection assurance for floating wind units. The marine phase is the same one we run on FPSO, FSO and FSRU campaigns, and the experience carries across directly.

Walk-to-work gangway FMEA and trials

Failure modes and effects analysis, proving trials, operations manuals and crew onboarding for W2W gangway systems on service operation vessels.

Vessel DP trials and suitability

DP FMEA and annual trials, and condition and suitability surveys for SOVs, CSOVs and installation vessels before they are fixed.

When to involve us

Before the vessel is fixed and before the installation procedures are frozen. For floating wind, at the point the tow and hook-up sequence is being written — that is where the marine risk sits.

Typical engagement: a defined scope per campaign or per vessel, or a retained arrangement across a fleet or a build programme.
