Surinder Pawar

Surinder has spent close to forty years developing, selling and delivering offshore production systems, and building floating assets. He knows how the other side of the table thinks.

An engineer by training, he began in process design and moved into country management in Venezuela, then Latin America, then global roles. He built Cameron do Brasil from a standing start to seventy-five million dollars of sales in two years, carried a three hundred and forty million dollar P&L across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and led global sales and marketing for a six hundred million dollar product line. At UniversalPegasus he held fifteen master service agreements and established five more.

He joins from Hanwha Ocean, where he ran the FLNG product line as Senior Vice President.

Kjetil A. Walland

Partner, Marine & Technical Delivery

Mariner since 1990. Master Mariner, DP advisor and Marine Warranty Surveyor, he has spent his career across tankers, offshore construction, drilling units, floating production and offshore wind.

His technical ground is dynamic positioning and the marine phase of floating production: DP FMEA and annual trials, tow master duties, rig moves, subsea installation assurance, and hook-up and connection campaigns. He has developed capability comparison and risk mitigation methods and calculation systems for oil majors, building the tools rather than only applying them — which is unusual in this field and shapes how Vardline approaches the work. In offshore wind he has worked on Sheringham Shoal and was site manager on Equinor’s Hywind Scotland, the world’s first floating wind farm.

At Vardline he holds technical authority for what leaves the firm.

Tom Vebenstad

Partner, Marine Systems, Inspection & Offtake

Most people who write procedures for turret systems have never disconnected one. Tom has, and reconnected it afterwards.

A Master Mariner and IMCA accredited DP auditor with more than twenty years offshore, he has commanded and served aboard anchor handlers, supply vessels, shuttle tankers and coastal tankers, and worked as marine adviser and DP expert. He has served as OIM, HSE officer and in various roles aboard FSU and FPSO units on the Norwegian shelf.

That seat is the difference. Turnaround preparation and release of turret and STL systems, ballasting for disconnection, stability conditions with shear forces minimised, riser changes from the unit side — all done rather than reviewed.

He leads the firm’s DP work: FMEA, annual and five-yearly trials, DP audits, and proving trials for battery and hybrid installations. Alongside that he carries installation campaigns, loading system FMEA, walk-to-work gangway FMEA and operations manuals for wind farm vessels, vessel inspection to IMCA eCMID, gap analysis, and marine warranty surveying for loadout, seafastening, heavy lift, spooling and bundle tow campaigns.
