Pre-installation, tow, hook-up and connection assurance
The weeks between sail-away and first oil carry more schedule and safety risk than any other phase of a floating unit’s life. We provide independent assurance across that critical path for FPSO, FSO, FLNG and FSRU units.
What we deliver
Installation plan review
Independent review of the marine installation plan, tow and mooring procedures, weather criteria and contingency arrangements against the unit’s design basis.
Pre-sail-away readiness
Verification that the unit, the tow spread and the carry-over list are in a state that the offshore campaign can absorb. Written readiness statement to the owner.
Tow and hook-up representation
A partner or senior associate on board or on the installation vessel through tow, mooring hook-up and riser pull-in, with authority to advise the owner’s representative in real time.
Close-out and lessons
A short close-out report: what was planned, what happened, what should change for the next unit. Written for the project team, not for the file.
When to involve us
Ideally six to nine months before sail-away, when the installation contractor’s procedures are in draft and can still be changed cheaply. We are regularly engaged later than that, and we can still add value, but the earlier we see the plan the more of the risk we can take out of it.
Typical engagement: a desk review at the start, a readiness visit to the yard, and continuous presence offshore from sail-away to hand-over.
