Vessel condition and suitability surveys

A survey should tell you whether the vessel can do the job you need, in the condition it is actually in. We survey for shipowners, charterers and financiers, and we report in plain language.

What we deliver

Pre-charter and on-hire surveys

Condition of hull, machinery, deck equipment, DP system and accommodation before the vessel goes on hire, with a record of defects and bunkers agreed with both parties.

Suitability surveys

Assessment of a vessel against a specific scope of work: deck strength, crane capacity, DP class, station-keeping, accommodation and the crew’s experience of similar work.

Condition surveys

Surveys for sale and purchase, financing or insurance. We inspect, we read the records and we talk to the crew.

DP trials witnessing

Witnessing of annual or proving DP trials on behalf of a charterer or owner, with an independent report on the results and any open items.

When to involve us

Before a charter is signed, before a vessel is bought, or before a vessel is committed to a scope it has not done before. A survey after the fact can only tell you what went wrong.

Typical engagement: one to three days on board, with a report within a week.
